I know that blyxa is a stem plant that is used as a grassy plant, but I'm wondering how you trim it and if you ever have to worry about it growing upwards like a tree instead of a bunch.....and how this plant propagates.

Could anyone that actually owns this plant kind of describe to me how it grows, how you keep it looking nice, and how you get more of it? Thanks

You don't really trim it. It will grow new plants from side shoots off the main stem and you just separate the stems. It doesn't grow tall. I've kept it off and on for years and never had it over 4 inches or so in height.

You keep it nice looking like you do any other plant, by providing good growing conditions. Provide it with enough nutrients including plenty of CO2 and it will do well. I've always found CO2 was key with this plant. Not enough and it suffers, give it plenty and it's a weed. It's one of my favorite plants. I like the grassy look of it combined with it's ease of keeping.
