I completely disagree...I sell tons of shrimp and other aquatics. I have a very busy life and selling aquatics is not my primary function. I think it is very reasonable to give someone a week. Sure I try to get back to people in 3 or so days, but to say 48 hours is kinda of ridiculous IMHO...I am not some big corporation with a customer service department. Sometimes it takes me an entire evening just to get through half the emails I deal with every day.

Steve...give him a week, if nothing then, go right after whomever it was.

I don't buy that. :) No offense. I'm a VERY busy person myself, very type A with lots going on. I work a "real job" I have a few social obligations, two children under 5, my husbands business I co-own, my own Etsy store, avid crafter etc AND a broken leg, and yet I'm still able to answer emails in a very timely manner. (IE within a few hours of receiving the initial email/contact.) (Plus I manage the household duties, ie "wife/mommy" stuff! Cooking, cleaning etc!!!)

If you have time to POOP you have time to answer an email. :) When peoples money is involved and my reputation? You bet my bottom I'm on the ball with responding to a customer with a problem OR an order question.

That is just me however and how "I" choose to operate.

Totally agree with Mamabear.
If they are durn sure skippy quick to take your money (and answer questions) on the sale of the item, then they should follow through. It's called good business. If you are "too busy" then you should hire employees or keep your "hobby" to yourself.
Just my two cents, as a power seller with a good rep on the Bay of E.

I wish people would state that as part of their WTS thread. Then the buyers could set their expectations and/or make a decision if they want to be a customer.

Once other people's $$$ get involved, it is no longer a hobby but a business. And if people do not like your business practices then your business without customers reverts back to hobby.

I personally get each and every email on my phone in < 15 mins from when it was sent...

A week is reasonable? I mean people don't even have 30 seconds to check their email? Unless people have to deal with 500 emails per day, 2 days max.

I have my own business. Back when that's all I did I could get back to people right away. Now I have a normal job where I'm gone most of the week and barely have time to sit down when I get home so NOW it's become difficult. I used to be all 'everybody should send a response within 48 hours' and while I still do that, sometimes it's hard for me to get orders out as quickly as I used to. And that's just dry goods/products. If I'm selling shrimp these days I can only ship on Saturdays. I would respond the same day as the email but couldn't ship except for that one day. So I guess it all depends. My major pet peeve is when I ask a question and someone responds RAPIDLY and just as rapidly when I ask their Paypal address...then I get radio silence. THAT ticks me off. Fortunately it's not a common occurrence but I can see how it would be an issue. When buying livestock/shrimp/fish I have to know the minute that package ships, etc, and be able to plan my entire week around that shipment so communication is key.

I a. A busy guy and I travel all over the US for work, and some times it takes me a little maybe a day or so to get back to people. But if I have someone's money I am on it quick. I can only ship sat most of the time because I travel or am at work from 5am until 6 or 7 pm. So I understand all aspects, my mind set changes when I have someone's money though
