[The Shrimp Spirit]

I have never seen these white stalks growing from plants before. They do not seem to be roots or algae. This plant has been in the tank for around 1.5 years and has never shown this before. It does not seem to bother anything, just unsightly. They are rigid and feel like plastic. Is this anything to be concerned over or is this good?
