Don't laugh...ok ,laugh. So I noticed that after I put my dirt and sand cap in my tank, The dirt remained dry ( after adding some water ) . Should I pour "Mud " into the tank, spread it, cap it and then plant or , should I plant into the dry dirt and wait for the dirt to absorb moisture? I am worried that as dry dirt absorbs moisture it will bubble and disrupt the sand cap.

the air release through sand is slow and for about 3 days I noticed it filling in completely with water. it will saturate but takes a little longer than when using a fractured or gravel cap.
