Is it true that crypts like wendtii and walkeri can get tall and leggy in low lighting and short and bushy in moderate/high light?

I have lutea in my tank and I've found that since I've changed my lighting, instead of getting very tall stems that cause the leaves to stretch across the surface, they are now more shorter. I know that they are not stunted because the leaves look great and I know I don't have any deficiencies in my tank.

Generally speaking, yes. More intense light will make crypts shorter and more compact/bushy in appearance.

The very large varieties will still get very large, but varieties like wendtii, undulata, etc will be bushier/more compact.
