Question about Cryptocoryne ideii 'Muara Teweh'

1964 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  peachii
What color does this crypt grow when submersed in a tank?

Other than the beautiful pink crypts I'm in love with - this crypt is the most amazing thing I've ever seen.

Time to start saving, right at this moment I wish i wasn't broke, this crypt needs to be in my life!!

I've been growing this plant emersed for the past year or so. Forgot that it was c. ideii and was actually under the impression it was c. zukalii for some odd reason. Should've bought one from me then haha

Beautiful coloration, haven't seen any accounts of it grown submersed. both the seller and I and my seller's seller have grown it emersed. It may very well be a crypt that doesn't do very well submersed. I could put a sprig of it in my tanks and get back to you in a month LOL
I've grown it submersed in my tap water conditions of KH 3 GH 5. I'm not sure it would do well in harder water though. It does keep the same awesome grey leaf with green stripes when submersed.
Emersed, here they grow, multiply and flower even at a pH of 8 and a KH of 18.
They also do well in less basic conditions.
That has been my experience. So there you have it from a couple of sources.
Be sure to provide sufficient light.
Hope you are successful. Bill

I thought I was done chasing plants but now I have decided and am quite sure there is no cure for collectoritis!

Thank you for the information everyone, I will be saving and trying to talk the boyfriend into letting me get yet - another- new plant in a few months.
