I am looking for more flow in my 10gallon planted tank. For filtration I am using a AquaClear 20. I am starting to get some staghorn algae on my plants and one reason I can think of is improper water flow. My filter just doesnt provide much flow through the plants, especially the dwarf hairgrass, which is where the algae started.

Can I use this Power Head: http://www.petco.com/product/13585/...Supplies_WaterPumpsandPowerHeads#BVRRWidgetID

I can't figure out if it has to be used with a undergravel filter or not. Can it just be used on its own, strictly for water flow?

Any other suggestions on ways to improve water flow through the aquarium would be appreciated.

its "multi function" meaning it can be used for alot of applications not just for under gravel. so yes it can be used as just a straight up powerhead.
