Propogating swords from flowering stem?

I have a red rubin sword that has flowered and has a bunch of small plantlets coming out of the tank as seen below. This may seem like a stupid question but what is the best way to propagate these suckers? I was thinking carefully snap them off and just plant them (planning on giving them away to friends in the area). The leaves seem to be shriveling a bit (lack of humidity) so I hope to do this soon.
