Problems with cleaning micron filter

1125 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  tazcrash69
I've soaked my micron filter for my HOT magnum in 50/50 bleach/water for 24 hours. It's gotten better, but it's still pretty brown. Should I up the bleach % or just soak it in fresh solution for another day?

Thanks,
Clint

I soak my Magnum 250 cartridge in about a 30-70 mix of bleach to water, for about 24 hours. It does an adequate job of cleaning it, not bleaching it. The idea, as I understand it, is for the bleach to disintegrate the organic matter in the filter, making it much easier to wash off. That it does very well. I still get about a week on a filter element before I have to change it.
So it's supposed to still be brown?

Thanks!
Mine have never turned white again. They are a beige or kahki color. I also use the 50/50 bleach /water for about 24 - 36 hours.

Also, Not sure how much this helps, but I slide the micron filter down the faucet neck to back flush it, pushing the debris out, not further into the element.
