Ill be setting up a 20 gallon tank with Flourite. I will have crypts planted.

Any recommendations for prepping or adding to the Flourite?

I've used Rex's paint strainer method for 6 out of 12 bags, and wish I did it for all 12.

A few other things to remember:
the more aggressive you get with it, the more dust you will make
Fill it very, very slowly. Let it take a long long time, that helps keeps the particles down. no splashing.

Thanks for this advice ... good stuff

I was thinking more about what to add to the substrate to make it more complete ... peat? mulm? Just wondering if anyone had some good advice beyond just adding the flourite to the tank.

A thin layer of peat and all the mulm you can get (within reason).

I have a 70 gallon bare bottom tank with floating Hygro and several amazon Swords in pots ... lots of leaf litter on the bottom of this tank. Would this make good mulm?
