Hi Everyone!
Are Praecox Rainbow shrimp safe? I did research and it says they must be fed tiny food so that leads me to believe they are shrimp safe but wanted to check it out with you all first.

I was researching the same issue. I think it's a matter of degree. If there is enough places for RCS to hang out and breed where they can't be molested then they will likely flourish. The adults seem to be large enough that unless continuously pecked at will likely be OK. The newly hatched shrimp are likely to be snacks unless protected by adequate cover.

I'm going to "solve" this by having a separate shrimp breeding and guppy tank which I'll occasionally use to restock my 90g if necessary.

I'm now on the hunt for some Praecox myself. Have you found any?

A full size praecox will eat shrimplets swimming along the middle/top of the tank. I drop mine feeder shrimplets up to 5mm size daily.

If the shrimplets manage to make it to the bottom of the tank, the praecox wont eat it. I think they just incapable of feeding near the bottom due to their shape.

Full size shrimp they will try to chase but it will always get away.

now Im not so sure i will go for them. I have thread fins now(they show no intrest in shrimp) but honestly they do nothing for me.

I have live wingless gut-loaded fruit flies that I occasionally am given from my friend who keeps frogs, and my praecox loves those, so I would imagine if the shrimp is small enough it will also enjoy those lol.

I primarily feed it a vegetable diet but the flies are great treats and theirs colors really came out once I gave them the flies occasionally!
