Here's the thing: I'm not a morning person. At all. Is it possible that I can get away with dosing at night? Would most likely be doing it as one of the last things before bed. So around 8 hours before the lights come on.

Yes you can.

The more important thing is to remember to dose rather than the timing.

If anything, consistent timing would be more important than the time of day. CO2 and lighting schedules coincide because CO2 doesn't stay in the water the same way your ferts will. You'll be fine!

Autodosing is pretty easy to set up and prevents the tank going south after you start forgetting doses (or have to be away from home).

Dosing pumps and electronic timers are pretty easy to setup. You just have to dilute the liquid ferts for smaller tanks. I've seen a couple journals with in depth setups!

For nano tanks the fancy reef dosing pump units can dole out quite small amounts (down to increments of a tenth of an mL) but do cost quite a bit. Depends on how much you're willing to pay for convenience. More basic peristalsic pumps (like the BRS 2 part doser) are more affordable but dose at more or less set increments, requiring you to tailor your solutions to this.
