I want to improve the C02 dispersal/flow in my 20L. The tank is medium-heavily planted and I have an atomic diffusor at about 2bps. I currently have 2 Aquaclear 30’s on max. Waterline is to the brim to keep co2 from gassing off.

I am noticing some green fuzz algae on plants where the flow is low. I was wondering if buying a small powerhead (Hydor Evo Pico 180, etc.) and putting it above my atomic diffusor would be enough or should I just buy a canister (Eheim 2215, etc). Buying a power would be much cheaper (20$ vs over 100$). Is the canister worth it?

Any other suggestions for a powerhead/canister depending on what route I go?

If you all need is better flow then go with the powerhead. The only reason to go with the canister is if you are lacking in filtration or if you want to switch to a CO2 reactor instead of the diffusor. Either way, if there are dead areas you will need some way to get flow into them.

I agree. Just buy a cheap powerhead.

Any suggestions for a powerhead? I think the Hydor nano240 would be too strong and I want something adjustable.

I got the nano 240 for my ADA 60p shrimp tank but since I use pantyhose around the intake the flow wasnt strong enough so I recently exchange it for the nano 425 and now the flow is perfect and not too strong. If you want to control the flow you can do that manually with pantyhose.

i have the nano 240 and imo was too strong in my 20gal long. if you did the pantyhose it may work fine.

but imo i would get a canister as it would clean up the inside of the tank a little more and also if you get lily pipes you shouldn't have as much gas off as you would if the water was too low for the hob filters.

i have a eheim 2217 on the 20 long and its just about right imo for flow. also only need to clean it out about once a month as it's soo big for the tank.

I agree, from what I have seen, the 240 is too strong. Would a 2215 be enough? The 2217 seems pretty strong too.

that would be as small as i would go. with the 2217 it is a little over powering if left fully open, but just barely. good thing they have ball valves that you can slightly close to slow the water down.
