Hi,

Received a message that they will be shutting down power tomorrow in my building from 11pm to 6am.

- I have a 80G planted freshwater tank. Lots of small fish.
- There is no lid on the tank, its open.
- My heater keeps the water temperature at 26C/79F.

What should I do?
1. Nothing?
2. Cover the top of tank (4ft long) with plastic wrap?
3. Other idea?

I'd cover it with plastic wrap, leave a few gaps for air exchange.

TBH I wouldn't be at all worried about water quality/temperature over a seven hour period, but if the lights turn on/off unexpectedly I've found they can jump.

If it was me I'd do nothing , but my fish like it a bit cooler, went 9 days without power to my fish room after Sandy without losses .If you have a lot of stuff that likes it a bit warmer then plastic wouldn't hurt anything and might keep down the heat loss .

Just do a quick check and make sure everything turns back on after a simulated power outage, I.e co2 light timer doesn't need to be reset, overflows restart automatically etc
