Potted plants and your shrimp

as i have stated in my other thread i have found 9 dead adult shrimp and 1 dead baby shrimp these past idk 8 days.

i think the declorinator has somethign to do with it cause i recall losing shrimp every time i do a WC.

but i was watching them tonight i was wondering if the fiberglass in potted plants is safe for them? i have 6 pottend plants in there waiting for me to scape as soon as i get new declorinator.

or will the shrimp just avoid them and not eat it?

the fiber should not be a problem. But what could be the problem is alot of potted plants come from farms that use heavy ferts (some contain copper) and heavy pesticides. Where did you get the plants from?
I would suggest removing the potted plants and only placing the plants in there once they are no longer in the pots. Like Dwarfpufferfish said, you dont know what could be soaked into the fiber....

It is definitely not the dechlorinater.

If you are losing shrimp everytime you do water changes I think it would be time to start testing your tap water or start using RO.

well that was before but then i wouldnt do as big as water changes )over 50%) and none died off...

i did a 25% a week ago and about teh same time as the plants and i found lots of dead ones the other night.
I still think you should test your water, temps could be a problem as well....I do 50% wc weekly on all of my tanks and have never lost shrimp after it....that includes CRS,RCS,Tigers,Sp.blue and amano.
