I use PVC pipes cut to 2" and close off the bottom with landscaping cloth attached with hot glue gun. Been working out amazing. There's some videos on youtube of ppl making pvc pipes look like real wood logs for aquariums too. I've also lined plastic pencil/pen holders with landscaping cloth to use as pots, they're kinda meh.

The ceramic pots unless they're completely glazed will leach something into the water. I see the TDS rise in a bucket with ceramic shrimp caves and flower pots.

PVC wins for me because they don't raise tds and the flexability cutting to length and variety of diameters and $2-3 for 10 feet... and if you really want you can make it look like wood.

Everything from gallon milk jugs cut in half, 5 gallon water bottles cut in half, plastic greenhouse trays, Nonny's Biscotti containers, all great as long as they're cleaned carefully and well rinsed. Stock up on washed river gravel for growing media.

Pond baskets from Home Depot are about $3

Line with newspaper like Rachel O’Leary does. I use landscape cloth for longevity.
