I lost a whole tank to the quick-type columnaris and I need to start fresh. I was thinking I could run the tank for a while with Potassium Permangante and clean the substrate, driftwood and filter. Do a dip for the plants. Then run it with fresh water and then drain and then start cycling up. Would that work? Is that safer than bleach? Can I disinfect moss balls?

Also I have a new 36 gallon tank that is cycling still but might be exposed, can I use PP in moderation but keep it set up?
