Hi guys,

Just ordered 2lbs of Ultimate GH Booster from GLA but I can't find out if it has enough K in it. I'm trying to move away from Seachem since most of their stuff is a rip-off IMO. Quality is good but price is too high.

I read that it raises the GH by the same amount as Equilibrium, but what about K? Does it have a similar amount to Equilibrium or will I have to dose K apart?

Also what about micros? Does it have a similar amount of Fe and Mn compared to Equilibrium?

Hi The Coffee,

LOL, I thought you were in Seattle. You would need to check with GLA but it likely the same formula as AquariumFertilizer.com which it Tom Barr's formula. The formula is:

By Volume:
1 Part K2SO4 (Potassium Sulfate)
2 Parts CaSO4 (Calcium Sulfate)
1 Part MgSO4 (Magnesium Sufate)

If it is based upon Tom Barr's formula it should have an equivalent amount if K as Equilibrium; no it would not contain any of the micro-nutrients that Equilibrium contains.

That was my understanding also.
Which puts the ratio of the ions in water @ 1.00 : 8.96 : 13.65 : 14.08 Mg:Ca:K:S

Seems a little skewed, but I don't have much idea about ion balance. Time for some more research.

But anyway that's great. Will save in the long run for sure, evwn with shipping incl.Well I dose the other micros anyway with CSM+B but good to know more about what's in the GH booster.

Isn't the Barr gh booster 3:3:1 caso4:k2so4:mgso4?
Hi nilocg,

When Tom Barr spoke at GSAS in the fall of 2010 he stated the formula as:
"it about 1/2 Potassium Sulfate (K2SO4); 1/4 Gypsum (CaSO4); and 1/4 Epsom Salts (MGSO4)". I think the difference in the numbers is due to how we measure the "parts"...whether by volume or by weight in grams......I was talking volume not grams. Most of the time I see the Barr GH Booster formula expressed in grams.

Ok got ya, ya ive seen 3:3:1 by weight. And honestly its really not going to matter much. Both are probably going to get you to the same place.
