Polisher for Magnum

I have a Magnum 350 and I understand that it comes with a polisher filter, but is there a more permanent option? I don't need the water crystal clear, but the haze just doesn't cut it. I replace the filter and diamond every two weeks or so but it just seems that the main filter isn't fine enough to clear the water. Water clearifier works great but clogs the filter quickly and I'd rather not use it anyway.

Is there a piece of hardware/filter that I can put inline with the Magnum to help clear the water that won't clog too quickly? Like I said previously, it doesn't need to be perfectly clear.

You should give seachem's purigen a try. It lasts for a few weeks/months, can be recharged, and can be had cheaper than most other water clearing solutions. It is a small bag you put into your filter. It has worked well for me.
i add my vote for purigen, it is an amazing product. not only will it remove unwanter nitrite but also it polishes the water.
3rd vote for purigen and you can also try a pre filter sponge on the strainer intake works great and itll cut canister cleaning in half!
Thanks! So where do I put it? I would think that it would go in after the diamond, but how do I keep them seperate? Do those little bags have strings that can tie it over that center plastic thing in the middle of the filter?
Purigen is great stuff. You don't need the charcoal--just fill the container with fitler floss--I've been doing it that way for yrs. Exactly how to incorporate the purigen into that filter is a bit tricky--the little bags are easier and can be slid between the screen and the floss....or the pre-filter sleeve and the screen.
May be over the top but I use a diatom filter during "House Cleaning".
Filters down to micron free swiming level. i.e, filters out ich.
Water is filtered through the diatoms, the skelata remains of unicellular algae.

Water if filtered throught these microscopic pores, thus removing anything larger than a micron.

I drop this filter in when I stir up and clean out my tanks, renders exceptional crystaline water in record time. Even removes Green Water.

Noisy, and a bit messy getting started, worth the effort in the long run.

agreed...it really is awesome and cleared up my tank, every time I set one up...
Thanks guys! I just got back from the lfs's and got a 100ml baggie of it. The guy there also gave me a bottle of Renew and a bottle of SeaGel for free. Either of these any good? I was talking about trying to replace the diamond with something a little less likely to cake and clog and he said to try these (tell ya how much money I have spent there? lol).
Generally speaking Renew behaves similar to purigen--just less aggressive. Seagel I don't know anything about. If you have enough renew to fill the container then go ahead and use it. If you need to buy more, then you may want to just get some matrix......Yes, you can mix the two.
