I have a 9 gal acrylic tank with two holes drilled in the sides, an eco plus 264 submersible pump, and and ceramic filter media. Fate is telling me to try a cannister filter.

eco plus 264 submersible pump:

The eco plus can use 3/4" or 1/2" tubing. It has all kinds of adapter thingies. But I need other thingies. First, bulkhead fittings. I'm thinking of getting four of these bulkhead fitting tank kits with elbow and intake screen. Two for the tank and two for the inlet/outlet for the cannister filter:

I'm also thinking of getting one of these ball valves to stop the flow for when I want to remove the cannister filter for cleaning:

My question is how to attach the tubing to the bulkhead fittings and ball valve. They look like they have threads to accept plugs. Should I buy barbed inserts or some other means of attaching tubing? If so, should I actually get a 1" ball valve, or does 3/4" refer to the tubing size?

Thanks.

I'd really recommend the ball valves they make life so much easier, they should screw right into your bulkhead fitting as long as they are the correct size. I use bulkheads that look like this: { http://www.aquariumpros.com/p-P1BHFPT,PFbh.html }.

Thanks, Brad. I think the ones I'm getting are the same, but with "screens" on the inside of the tank.

By the way, will the 3/4" ball valve fit over the 3/4" bulkhead fitting? TIA
