It's growing pretty fast. I caught it in a creek here in ky. about 6 months ago. It was only about 1 - 1 1/2 inch long. Now it is 2 1/2 or so. I wonder how big it will get.

oh woah! i caught a whole bunch of those fish to put in a summer-only tank, and i didnt realize what they were. I also caught a bluegill that was maybe 12" and my cousin said it was really small for a bluegill (which i ate for a quick snack that afternoon :))(it was muy deliciousamente), so im pretty sure they get pretty big.

Idaho state record bluegill is 3 lb 8 oz. Also lists a hybrid bluegill/pumkinseed at 1 lb .03 oz. Ive read a little about people keeping them, its said they can kill an adult oscar.

Looks like a Pumkinseed to me.
x2
Sunfish like that are insanely aggressive. At my work, we had small 2" bluegill come in with our feeders once and I threw one into our SA cichlid tank with Midas, Red Devils and Green Terrors, all over 4" long.
After the bluegill killed three fish twice its size, I threw him back with the feeders. I definitely wouldn't try keeping him with Tetras or anything lol
