oh woah! i caught a whole bunch of those fish to put in a summer-only tank, and i didnt realize what they were. I also caught a bluegill that was maybe 12" and my cousin said it was really small for a bluegill (which i ate for a quick snack that afternoon )(it was muy deliciousamente), so im pretty sure they get pretty big.
Sunfish like that are insanely aggressive. At my work, we had small 2" bluegill come in with our feeders once and I threw one into our SA cichlid tank with Midas, Red Devils and Green Terrors, all over 4" long.
After the bluegill killed three fish twice its size, I threw him back with the feeders. I definitely wouldn't try keeping him with Tetras or anything lol
It looks like it has some pumkpinseed genes, but I'd bet its a cross between a bluegill and 'seed. They are very fun to have in a native aquarium especially if you can recreate their breeding season and get the full color of males.
