Its green when young, then gets a bit brownish when reaches full size.

I also have crypt wendtii brown, but its very much different. Thas more reddish brown

You'll never be able to really tell until it flowers. The same crypt will look completely different in different water conditions, different soil conditions etc.
That being said... its probably a wendtii, petchii, or undulata. where did you get it from? store or trade?

Hi. Thanks for your response. It was purchased from a store, whose owners are generally weak when it comes to plant names. I tried getting this identified at our local planted tank forum, and much to my surprise, received no replies.

At least now I know why.
