Plants for driftwood - suggestions?

801 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  DeLaFe
I am setting up my first fresh water planted tank (I have 2 reef tanks and used to keep African Cichlids)

My driftwood has been soaking for about a week and replacing the water twice a day. The water is now only slightly yellow. Anyway...

I am not a big fan of java moss on driftwood. I prefer something more "leafy" and not "clumpy". Any plant suggestions for a piece of driftwood? Something leafy, but that does not grow very tall. Am I making sense?

Anyway, the only animals that could be affected which I plan to keep:

Shrimp
Dwarf Corydoras
Another dwarf catfish, don't have the name in front of me...

Best,

Alfred

Java fern or anubias. Lots of varieties of both pretty readily available, so you should be able to find something that works well for you. Both are easy to attach to dw and are easy to trim sections out if they start taking over more than you want. Bonus: you'll then have plants to sell or trade. :)

If you want something really small, look for anubia nana petite--leaves can be as small (or smaller in some cases) as a pencil eraser.
Just found a photo of a piece of driftwood with nana petite doing a quick google search (on another forum), looks pretty nice! I'll see if I can pick some up this weekend.

Thank you,

Alfred
