Does anyone have a good link or tips they can share on planting Dutch style "streets" I've tried several times now and my plants look like I've just dumped them in with no thought !

You can check out Tom's thread but you may have to read through about 100 pages or you can just check the pictures in the last few pages. He has very good use of street plantings in the Dutch style except better because of the nice hardscape which isn't usually used in the Dutch style.
