Hi everyone! I have a (currently unplanted) 5 gallon with a 1.5 inch thick layer of 1/8th inch turface as the substrate. It had plants in the past, but stem plants did not seem to do well in this tank...I had major problems with planting cuttings without the portion in the substrate rotting off. Was it a planting method issue, an issue with the substrate itself, or some other problem I cannot think of? I did not have a similar problem with a cryptocoryne wendtii that was in the same tank (though said crypt did develop algae, so obviously something was not right...perhaps a CO2 issue, as the tank had yeast CO2 at the time). Thanks :)
