HI I just bought a new fluval edge, in hopes of doing something interesting with plants. I was wondering about lighting and if i should upgrade to something a little better than the stock lights. the types of plants was also an issue my idea was to do dwarf tears for the bottom but what else?? I don't want to add co2 to a 6 gallon tank. Idk. if you have any ideas let me know!

Hi,

Dwarf tears (also known as HC) can be grown without CO2, but it's a difficult process. For changing out the stock lights, I suggest you search this site for Edge lighting and see what comes up. I know of a few people that have retrofitted various lamps into the hood. The types of plants you will be able to grow depend on what sorts of lights you manage to rig up.

good idea, for more plants I was thinking amazon swords attached to drift wood and maybe some java fern. what do you recommend?

I don't think swords are really a driftwood plant as they get most of their nutrients through their roots.

K so what is a good driftwood plant? I'm upgrading the stock lights to led's with a flourescent add on, what types of plants do you reccomend?
