Anyone?
everything i've read suggest that the plants I have are mostly column nutrient uptakers so...Without knowing specifically what's in the tabs and the quantity of what's in them, there's no way to tell. The short answer: probably not.
Why not use the root tabs? All the plants you have will send down roots to feed from them.
I'm just trying to control nitrates for the fish's health. don't think i really have an issue just trying to prvent oneIf you are already having to 'control nitrates' I would not add more nitrates.
You probably could turn root tabs into fertilizer, but I would test the dosing before you actually put it in the tank. Try 1 drop in a gallon of water or something. Test for Nitrates.

ok, will try it. ThanksFerns and Anubias will draw nutrients from their root system. While you obviously don't plant the rhizome, roots from both descend into the substrate and feed. That's why they're so popular for shrimp tanks where dosing isn't the norm and in low-tech tanks that just use Aquasoil.
