Hi everyone,

I'm a new member to this forum, and am excited to be a part of the aquarium hobby community! I need some help with identifying a couple of plants that I purchased a few days ago (please see the first image, large leafy plant in the center). The LFS said this plant is a type of Ludwigia, but after doing some research I didn't come across any Ludwigia species that looks similar to this plant. I would love to know the name so I can research and ensure it is taken care of properly.

As I'm new to the forum, thought I'd post a photo of my current tank as well.

Thank you for your help!

Thank you MtAnimals for the info! Looks like it is a ludwigia then; I'll do some more research and try to find the specific ludwigia species. I didn't have much luck with the ludwigia repens so hopefully this one will do better. And thank you for your comment about my tank; I recently upgraded from a 10G to a 20G, and have been really enjoying researching and adding more plants to the tank.

Hi AquaHobbyist,

Welcome to TPT!

It really doesn't look like a Ludwigia species; possibly Alternanthera ficoidea.

Thanks Seattle_Aquarist, I will research this plant. Appreciate the help!

I did a little bit more research, and could it be possible that the plant I have is a Clinopodium Browneii? Below is one of the photos I saw online that looks very similar to the plant in my tank:

Looked up Alternanthera ficoidea and found that it is not a true aquatic plant. Really like this lovely plant with its lushness, and my danios like to swim through the leaves. Do you know how long it can stay submersed?

Thanks for everyone's help, btw!
