This one plant is not listed on the package I picked up and I've been racking my head trying to identify it.

It has long leaves, no stem.

It's leaves are about 1/2 to 3/4" wide (lot larger than a Val by at least double) and it goes red.

Thanks in any help IDing this plant.

Well, I know what I'm going to do with it, now to figure out what to do with it until that tank is ready. lol

And yeah, I saw a runner w/ small leaves on it today so I'm fairly certain it is that giant val. I've just never seen a val with leaves this wide.

I think the cell formations on the leaves are similar to sagittaria platyphylla.

From what I read that sag only gets to 15".

This plant is easily 22"+

Definitely a vallisneria, most likely americana, they can get red in certain light and water quality parameters.

Mine are about 17 inches but close enough yeah.

My vote goes to jungle val

How tall can jungle Val get? This plant goes to the top of my tank which is 19 - 20 inches from the substrate. If/Then stretches another 10 into the room or across the top of the tank on some of its longest leaves.

I'm not sure if it has any limit at all. It can definitely reach 5-6 feet. Fortunately, you can trim the leaves and they'll just continue to grow, they'll not melt or anything like this.
