Hi, I'm new to planted tanks and am not very familiar with names of plants.

This plant was given to me, I thought that I had successfully killed it, but it has come back and I have three of them growing in my tank now.

What the heck is it lol

Thanks,Daniel

The leaves do look similar to the banana plant but it does not have the "bananas" like the pictures that I have seen of a banana plant.

Perhaps Nymphoides sp. 'Taiwan'
I have the same plant. The closest I could come to is some type of Nymphaea sp.
Perhaps Nymphoides sp. 'Taiwan'
Looks a lot like this plant hmmm...

Thanks for all of your replies!

The banana plant is Nymphoides aquatica. It is related to the plant you have, which is most likely Nymphoides sp 'Taiwan'. The only exception is that it does not have the "bananas"

Hygrophila polysperma 'Ceylon'?
Or maybe Hygrophila sp. 'Tiger'?

I'm thinking it's the ceylon though... beautiful plant!
Hygrophila sp. "Tiger" ^^
Does look like the tiger, I think that's a winner! :proud:

Thanks for the replies!:icon_bigg

That isn't 'Tiger'. It's 'Bold'.

The bottom plant is a Limnophila.

This is Hygrophila sp. 'bold'. I'm almost certain that what reflexhunter has is Hygrophila sp. 'tiger'.

Bottom plant looks like a stubby trimming of Limnophila aromatica.

Which species of limnophila didn't find one that looks like it.

It's REALLY variable man (also emersed). I've had it both like yours and like his myself. The two get confused all the time. Both pics in the Plant Finder are of plants from the same original source.

Did I get a positive id on this plant or did I miss it?

It's a Limnophila species, but you'll probably have to let it grow out for a while before we can figure out the species. My guess is L. aromatica, but that's only a guess.
Thanks! Almost threw it out a while back, ever since I started co2 it has really turned around. Can't wait until it really blossoms.
