So, I recently trimmed one of my big jungle / extra plant holding tanks and noticed a bunch of new growth from a plant that I had thought died... Can someone please help me ID this plant? It looks very rotala like, but I'm not very certain. It definitely is not rotala rotundifolia since I know what that looks like (I grow and sell it frequently).

I think I might have figured it out while browsing the planted tank forums... Anyone think it might be Rotala magenta?

I heard 'butterfly' is an unstable hybrid and will revert to a greenish colored macranda if conditions aren't met...

also, is magenta stable? I'm getting butterfly in a few days, wondering what it will do for me.

I love how people renamed Rotala macrandra green to 'caterpillar'. Too funny...
thats because if it morph back it doesnt morph completely back to rotala macrandra green.

I have all 3 growing next to each other in a tank, all 3 are different.

i guess some day someone decide to call it caterpillar haha
