A couple of months ago I started seeing something growing out of my JavaMoss, it didn't really concerned me at first but now I'm seeing more and more of it all over my shrimp tank, I don't know if it's another plant or some kind of algae...

Can you ID it?

Utricularia gibba.........it is very hard to get rid off.

It's aka Bladderwort and parasitic, the aquatic version of a Venus Flytrap.

Oh jeez, I have that stuff too. I pull it out as soon as I see it, but it always pops up somewhere else. If its really stuck on a plant I just trim off that particular leaf or stem and throw it out.

Looks really cool, actually. Kind of like ivy but somehow 'alien.'

Utricularia is a neato genus. I doubt any shrimp could be harmed by it. It eats things that are about copepod size. (2 mm and smaller)
