I am working on slowly setting up a 90 gallon planted tank. I have recently seen some plants on different websites on sale buy 2 get 1and was thinking about buying a set of different plants and growing them out in a 10 gallon that i have just sitting around my house. Is this a good Idea? what Issues can i expect from this type of setup?

Your title is throwing a me a bit, are these aquatic plants?

There is nothing wrong with stocking up on plants. The biggest issue you will have is if you are planning to keep them in different conditions then in your growout tank. So if you are planning to run co2 and buy plants that need co2 but keep them low tech in the growout, they will probably not do well.

Also you will need to plant them right away. If you buy stems you will need to separate them and plant them, don't leave them all bunched up and expect them to grow well for you etc.

They are low tech aquatic plants that can be grown emersed for a faster grow rate

This can work, but just be careful with it. I've found that many plants die when grown emersed if the shock is too much for them. You will want to completely seal the tank off with plastic wrap or a tight fitting glass lid. Then be prepared to mist a couple of times a day until they are established. Also you will want constant standing water to at least the top of the substrate level. I also HIGHLY recommend not using any substrate in the tank you do not want in your aquarium. Meaning do not use dirt. The root systems of these plants will grow much more extensively then a submersed plant and will make getting excess substrate out impossible. So grow them in sand, gravel, or aquasoil, whatever is going to be ultimately in the aquarium.
