I got this plant from a friend (btw I donno what it is, if anyone could ID it for me :help, it has algae on it when he gave it to me, it looks like short hair algae, and I just found part of the algae turned pink/red-ish. What is it? There are goldfish in the tank, gravel as substrate, no CO2.

Looks like a Vallisneria; the algae that is on it appears to be BBA.

However, the pink colouration indicates that it is dying (which is good).

Agreed looks like dying BBA. Did you dose any excel or H202 Recently?

+1, BBA will turn florescent pink for a day or so till it completely dies.

Sorry guys but what is BBA? This is a super low tech tank, I don't put any chemical or fertilizer into it. So as this thing is dying it wouldn't affect anything right? (I'm going to redo the tank anyways)
