I've been setting up a 55 for reed fish currently on the 4th day of fishless cycling my ph however is at 7.6 but reed fish need 6.5 to 7 I know fish can adjust to new ph could reed fish adjest to my ph

The problem is since im on well water which is high in heavy metals ph down has no effect on my water

So my question is should I leave ph at my current stable 7.6 or should I try to lower it?

I wouldn't worry about your pH during the initial 'cycle' process as it is likely to be all over the place. You'll want to wait until your cycle is finished and then see what your water parameters settle at.

What's your KH? GH?

Using chemicals to alter pH isn't something I would advise. Erpetoichthys calabaricus do well in just about any pH, if that's the species you'll be keeping. Your tap water will likely be just fine.

Most species you can keep in an aquarium will do fine with tap.
