Does it? The only variable that would cause the swing is CO2 during the day and lack of it at night. At night, my pH is around 7 to 7.3. During the day, it is around 6.4 to 6.8.

dh is at 3 consistently.
gh is at 4 to 5 consistently.

Why is there a ph swing around the night? What about when it's 6.8-7? Small swings like these don't really effect plants but dunno aboutany livestock you have in there. I have a ph of about 6-5.5.

Because of CO2 injection during the day and no CO2 injection at night.

Well yea but why would you have 2 swings in ph? Since at night my ph is 6 but during the day its 5.5. Unless you measured it 2 times?

Is only one swing. However, I was referring to the "ph range" because the Ph color chart isn't too accurate.

I have wondered about this but on a larger scale. I have plants in a tank that has been at about 6.5, whereas my tap water comes out at 8.2. I reduce the pH using API drops and peat. This means that sometimes in my tank the pH can swing pretty drastically in one day. I have frequently wondered if this was bad for my plants (and fishes) so I am glad someone else has sort of the same question even though the details are a bit different. I am interested to see what other members here think.

I have a 5.5 ph and my tap is 7.5. And everything is fine. During water changes tank water goes out the front door and water comes straight from the tap.

Simple answer: No, nothing to worry about. Co2 gives a false Ph reading from what I understand anyway. I have never linked Ph to any problems at all.
