Hello,

Today received pH controller in mail. Probe cap was still on, but probe cap solution has clearly leaked out, white sediment covered probe cap an there was no liquid in the probe cap. Can I just clean and use, or does this imply I need a new probe?

If I attempt to clean and test it, what do I use & how do I clean?

Thanks,

It's potassium chloride that the tips of the probes are stored in.

This FAG comes from http://www.americanmarineusa.com/

I just unpacked my new monitor and found white crystals on the probe. Is this normal?
There may be some white salt (potassium chloride crystals) residue around the clear plastic cap. This is normal and can be washed off with water.

My probe came dry as well. I washed off the crystals, hooked it up and calibrated and it has been going strong for 8 months. A good way to test a probe is to dip it in a solution with a very high or low pH. A good probe should react very quickly whereas a dying probe will be slow to respond to the change.
