Is this the same as the dollar weed growing in my yard? If so, how do I transition it to living submerged?

They're the same genus but different species. What you have in your yard will grow underwater (Hydrocotyle umbellata, Hydrocotyle ranunculoides) but it's not as pretty as Hydrocotyle verticillata, Hydrocotyle sibthorpioides etc...

Mistergreen, thank you for the info! It's truly appreciated.

I wonder if there are any laws about wild collecting? I'm sure there are but living in Florida with an abundance of freshwater lakes and rivers, I have plenty of sources.
Its fine to collect local flora. but here in washington you need a scientific collection permit to transport live fauna, you can catch them with just a license, but to transport is different...lame...but its the law.

As long as it isn't on a nature area, from what I understand... at least the laws here in CO do not allow taking anything from natural areas.
Thanks everyone! I'll be spending some time researching the laws in my state. If I can gather locally but legally then its an option I'll take advantage of. I'll just have to be careful of alligators. (sigh)
I think you're fine to collect plants but you can't introduce like dumping a goldfish in the local creek.
