Pelia's gone so is the Hygrophila :(

Ok...so i was setting up a low tech tank. Ordered some plants online and they were mailed to me. Among the plants was Pelia - Monosolenium Tenerum and Hygrophilla Polysperma. The former is a liverwort and the latter is a fast growing stem plant. I read somewhere that the Hygro is a tough plant to kill and grows very fast. It's been just 5 days that I put these plants in my tank and I've managed to do what people say is extremely difficult to do. The pelia has turned brown and is melting away. And the hygro has gone . lost 90% of the stems. All melted away. I'm totally disappointed. Other plants in my tank are doing well. Dwarf sags, anubias, bacopa monnier.

Will the pelia recover? I would hate to spend more $$ buying plants :\

Water parameters of the tank it's in? Lighting specs? Could you give us more info on the tank setup in general?
Its a 15G tank...the lighting is at 27W now, it's at a height of 6" above the water level. I'm using ada amazonia which i cycled for a few days before adding plants. So far i tested only nitrates which are at 0ppm. Will be getting my api freshwater kit in a couple of days, then I will be able to test other parameters.
What kind of light is it? WPG means nothing tbh
Photos of the damaged plants?

It sounds like a lack of lighting and is about the right time frame for plants to die from no light.

6 inches above the tank is very far up, and 27 watts of even the brightest light types 6 inches above a 15g tank would be very low light. With a less efficient bulb type it is basically no light.

Need to see photos to be sure.
Hygrophila polysperma requires a good lighting from my personal experience. I tried it in low light and I lost it after a couple of months.

Michel.
Get your ammonia levels checked too- before it's cycled, ADA can throw off enough ammonia to burn plants unless you do big water changes,
Laura said exactly what I was going to say from what I've heard about ADA Am. One guy told me it take like 90 days for it to settle. I dont have any experience with it.

I've had h. polysperma since a week in my walstad and its definitely not melted. Its in its settling period I think but will know how its doing only much after a month. Other plants are doing fantastic in this tank btw.

I keep spare clippings of Hygro in an unheated tank with no light other than what comes in through a window and the stuff still grows for me lol.
