I can't:

Send or Request Money
Receive Money
Close my account

Wish I would have taken money out of my account yesterday. :angryfire

Saying my informaiton is linked to another account... waiting on hold going on 30 min.
Craig...are you certain that the email is coming from Paypal. It may look like it but it may be a scam that's designed to get financial information from you. I had been getting those for a while.

Try going here:

https://www.paypal.com/securitycenter

and then go to the right side of the page under "Take action"

They'll confirm whether or not it's a legitimate email.

After an hour and 20 minutes on hold I finally got through. Someone in 2004 had opened an account using my SS number. Why I never got flagged before I don't know.

Well in order to get access to my account I need to have them clear that account and then I can have my funds back.

Someone charged $256.52 to that account and its been sitting in collections for several years. Paypal never actively pursued it till now.

I think that by applying for a Paypal Security Key that must ahve triggered them to search there system for any thing linked to my SS number.

So now I have to wait 1-3 buisness days to get my account back and have them do something with the other account.

I guess at least I can get it taken care of now instaed of in the future if I needed something.

So, it looks like forced savings for you for about three days, then. I hope you don't miss being able to buy some nice exotic plant that you've been looking for that's up for sale in the next three days.

Worst part is I have several packages to ship today but without access I can't ship them as I don't get my paycheck till Monday. Plus its more expensive to boot to pay at the PO.

To which my computer replies...

"Danger: AVG Search-Shield has detected active threats on this page and has blocked access for your protection. The page you are trying to access has been identified as a known exploit, phishing, or social engineering web site and therefore has been blocked for your safety. Well, now you know that paypal is actually trying to protect you. If they weren't they'd make you pay for the other account's purchases.:hihi:

The funny part to me is that you can still sell on Ebay and put money onto your account. Even though you'd basically be giving them free money?

So paypal only gets better.

Paypal started a dispute against an order placed. The buyer didn't start the dispute paypal did. So on top of not having access to my funds paypal placed a hold on this purchase.

Trying to contact the seller from this board but haven't heard back.

what a day.
Fun!
I only recently started up with Paypal again because a few years ago I bought designer silk flowers for my wedding. Cost me just over $300. Seller basically took the money and ran. Paypal would not help me at all. They would not even look into it.

I try not to use paypal at all but sometimes it can come in handy, like when I buy from a reputable buisness or a person I can trust.
Here is how it shows in my History:

Aug. 29, 2009 Temporary Hold To Unauthorized Placed Details -$140.00 USD

They're seizing your money?

Time to find an alternative...

They already did.... I haven't finalized the dispute as I'm awaiting response fomr the buyer to verify he placed the order before I make a decision on how to handle this.

The hard part is the buyer is a member here but is in HI so the 5 hor time change makes trying to get ahold of them harder.

What a day.

Revolution Money is the only one I know of but lacks members and uses.

Craig
I think there is also like escrow or something but thats like more online checking or something.

Maybe its just karma for the board, they did a great job for one member, now its time to mess another member over.

On a side note, what type of account do you have? Is it a prime one or a normal personal one?

Its the premier account. This is turning into a nightmare.

Revolution Money Exchagne works but has a few flaws:

1- money must already but uploaded to your account to make a purchase so a spur of hte moment find takes forever if the buyer is willing to wait.
2- No way to link credit/ debit cards
3- Just kind of slow.
4- No postal/ mailing progam, I know you can use USPS.com but sometimes having it all in one so you don't have to wait for a transfer to take place makes thing and getting stuff out faster.

I still have a RME account but today was the first time i loggind in since 8/08.

Craig
Just got off the phone with paypal a second time today. Much less wait time.

They told me if I sent it to the confirmed address and kept proof of shipping that I would be reimbursed either way.

I was told once I contact the buyer and have them call in if it was a legitimate sale and the can reverse it immediately.

What a day.

I have never had a problem with pp in the 5 years I have been using it. Whenever there is a problem it is usually them trying to figure out some inconsistency with your account or user error.

definitely not user error. I started using paypal back when it was fairly new and I was a huge computer nut.

What seems to have triggered this find was that when I signed up for a security key they probed anything wiht my SS number on there servers. Atleast that is what I was told. When I called and contacted them I was informed that the don't actively pursue delinquint accounts. This account was setup in 2004 without my knowledge even though I had a paypal account already setup that I currently use.

Called them today on my other problem and they said they are waiting on the buyer to now contact them, they said they e-mailed him twice with no response even though I had contact with him in Saturday.

Still no paypal that I can use and have several people to pay for goods I want and some ebay transactions that will need to be paid if I win the auctions in the next couple of days.
