Hmm.... so a famously agressive, largely carniverous fish that naturally feeds on invertebrates won't eat shrimp in a glass box? As the first "tropical" fish in Europe, and a well documented fish often referred to as the fish that started the hobby, I'm sure eight seconds of research would answer your question :)

Seriously though, I've seen Macropodus opercularis kill platys and eat half grown guppies.

Find a nice 10G tank for it. Another excuse to get another tank and scape it.

It doesn't need a complicated filter. A little in the tank filter will do.

I'm thinking of getting one if it looked right.

Or go bigger and add a school white clouds, both do not need a heater as long as the room is somewhat temperature controlled.
