Does anyone have any experience with the breeding behaviour of Ottos? I have 5 in my tank and one of them has been getting increasingly round in the belly area. The other 4 have become super active around this particular one including some unusual behaviour such as curling their body in a tight U around her head and what appears to be gently cleaning her back and sides. This lasted a few days and has since calmed down now but I was wondering what could be the cause.

The same thing has been happening with my Otos Westbrook. I'll wake up and see them forming the "U" shape you're talking about around the fat Oto. I haven't seen any eggs or anything yet, but at first I thought it was breeding behavior. From what I understand though, Otos haven't been bred in captivity. I could be wrong though, don't quote me on that.

if they are doing that put some ice cubes in the tank to simulates rain fall. that is supposed to work. use like 1 cube per gallon.
