Otos and wood

So I have this weird white fungus-like growth on my Manzanita wood. Though I already had this wood inside a tank for months, I just transferred it to another tank, and now there is this white fungus-like growth on it.
I read that Otos eat it, is that true?
It looks like a clear gel or something.. Its not a massive amount, but it covers a thin layer on the entire piece of wood.
Its on all 3 pieces that I transferred.
Would this go away? Or should I get an oto to solve the problem?
