I've had success with RCS when I had a tank. Currently we have a 10 gallon that I'm cycling. I was wondering what other shrimp are good for beginners. We have plenty of experience with tanks and reefs.
Generally easy to keep are ghost shrimp and Amano shrimp.
Any color variant of Red Cherry Shrimp (Neocaridinas).
Then a step above that, hardy Caridina shrimp would be Tangerine Tigers, Red Tigers, Wild Tigers and Malawa shrimp.
Just listing these are generally adaptable shrimp.
But it really does come down to water parameters (pH, KH, GH, Temperature, TDS) as far as being able to keep shrimp alive and healthy.
So do check your water parameters and research what shrimp are suitable for your water parameters.
Tank raised livestock tend to be more adapted to average aquarium water conditions, so they usually have more successful results.
