Hi everyone.

Just found the following on amazon

They are osmocote tabs already made.

Does anyone have any experience with these? Or know if they are suitable?

I can't seem to find any data on them.

Better you buy Gel cap(Ebay) and Osmocote plus individually and DIY...it will last life time..

Yeah you can for about $30 and 30 hours of time make your own, or you can buy them from a few power sellers here. Nilocg sells them cheaper than i could make them lol. Easy easy to do but time consuming. They work great though in small/medium size tanks or larger tanks for target feeding plants

I have used them on my larger tank, just be careful not to use them on smaller tanks as they will quickly add nitrates to the water column also. Hydrophyte has some soil pellets for sale in the powerseller area that may work better for a smaller tank.

I have a ton of 00 size Osmocote gel caps if you want some send me a pm.

Thanks all for the help.

For a year now I've been having trouble with various plants not doing so well, hence the reason for this post.

After LOTS of reading I've put it down to 3 things.

1) too much light. To the point where plants are getting algae on them on the bottoms then only newer growth looks 'lush' I have now halved the lighting. I'm now on 2 t5 ho with fairly good reflectors.

2) not feeding via the roots (as well as ei) - I've come to realise that many of the problem plants are just Hungary!

3) co2 Has been high enough but not at the beginning of the photo period. So I'm currently altering the timer bit by bit so it's high enough (and maintains) throughout.

So thanks for the offers from both on this thread and via PM for osmocote but atleast for now (while I prove my theories) I'm going to stick with of the shelf tabs 'to keep it simple' thus removing any chance of even more variables.
