You are right, thats a big bowl

IMO since I have tons of knowledge of Par bulb LED lighting, Honestly for your intended use, get a 18watt up to 24watt Par38 with 90° lenses, 6500K light! Hang the light 12" above the tanks rim!
If you do this, you will get excatly what your looking for in regards to lighting, looks and ability to grow plants in your bowl... Ebay and other places incl hardwear stores have these light from about $20.00 up to $40.00 tottal... You will not need a dimmer uless your light is 2" off the tanks top edge... do get a simple light timmer, it will keep things simple. I caint wait to see what you do with this bowl...
