opinions please

I think your on the right track but in all honesty I would lose the faux rock and track down a nice piece of wood or nice stone from this site. It's a shame ro have nice looking live plants then have that piece in there that sticks out like a sore thumb. Really nice start though and welcome to the hobby my friend. This is a great place for advice so don't be afraid to ask anything that comes up. I've learned a ton here and it's honestly a lot of trial and error, many errors in my case.

I agree with getting an nice piece of wood or a rock with some character. If you have trouble with your hairgrass spreading you can spread it out more.

Also if you ever get that driftwould, you could take the anubias out of the substrate and tie it on, they prefer that

looks good i like it. my only thing is the moss you have stuck into the rock. to me it looks very out of place.

Well guys I purchased a piece of driftwood I boiled it don't know if that was a good idea and now it is soaking. I also moved my moss and think it looks a little better

looks good, im a little biased because im no longer a fan of most ornaments in tanks because they can harm your fish (sharp edges).

now just make sure your tank gets appropriate lighting hours so you dont get tons of algae

I leave my lights on six hours a day is that enough or to much I know the light will grow plants cause I have new babies coming up all over

Typically 8-10hrs is recommended as your trying to mimic nature as best as possible. Remember that leaving them on too long though can create algae problems.

boiling it was a great idea. you removed alot of the tannins (the yellow stuff) so your water will stay clear looking longer. if its been boiled you shouldn't need to soak it as it should sink on its own now, so long as you didn't allow it to dry after you boiled it.

please post a new photo when you put the wood in.

what kind of light do you have on the tank?

I have two 10 watt cfls by marienland 5100k natural daylight

And I will post new pics with drift wood but think I need to keep soaking it cause my water in bucket is still very brown and I don't want a black water look in my tank

i would continue to boil the log until the water stops turning yellow/brown, otherwise you could end up soaking that log for months. i had a piece in my tank for three months that was still leeching tannins. i took it out and it still had to boil for a whole day.

if that was my tank i would run the lights 8hrs, but i like staring at my tanks. the nice thing about light is that you can quickly see if you have enough light, to much light, or just the right amount.

Well guys I took some of yalls advice added the wood few rocks still looks like a newby tank but I'm still learning will post pics within the hour and plz give advice again I really need it and I thank every one for taking the time to post
