A wood carver at my work gave me this manzanita burl. At first my plan was to cover it with flame moss but I kinda like looks of it. The second idea i had was to grow some anubis nana petite on it. Open to suggestions and opinions. Thanks

I also would aim not to totally cover and hide it, but to show it off.

Saw it in 1/2 and then you have 2 nice pieces with a nice flat surface to mount it.

That's a gorgeous piece. I can understand why you don't want to cover it. Why cover it at all? Maybe have some dense stem plantings in behind it and to the left side, with a low ground cover in front and coming around to the right side? If you have shrimp or loaches, they would love the little cave.

I like the idea of cutting it in half once i get a larger tank. Right now I'm working with a 25 gallon. I think I'm gonna leave the wood exposed and find another place to use the flame moss I received.

I have a gorgeous piece of driftwood, a 20" circle with a big hole in the middle. I've placed anubias in that hole but now want to get rid of it so as to highlight the actual wood. YMMV but I'm starting to believe that wood is best served for contrast.

I agree that if you're going to grow something on it, you should go with the anubis.
