After reading Darkblade's C02 primer I decided to shop around ebay and craigslist, but mostly everything I find is used. I know new is probably the best option, but what is your opinion on used ? Is there something I should look out for or ask about ?

I have a 300$ budget for a complete system and I would like to make the best decisions I can with that.

Used is fine; I buy used since it is cheaper than buying new (obviously).

I have been lucky enough a few times to get brand new "old stock" regulators - these are essentially new regulators that have just been sitting on the self for awhile.

If you are buying used, as with any used product, you should ask to ensure it is in full working order, that none of the gauges are broken, the regulator was tested recently, etc.

You can also get some ease of mind if the seller accepts returns and/or has a no DOA guarantee.
