I combined my 2 10g shrimnp tanks into a single 18g bowfront. I bought some onyx-sand substrate....capped it off with black gravel which was in the previously mentioned 10g's. The onyx sand, even tho rinsed, has ruined my water. Its milky white. I have let it rest, filtered it, changed it to no avail. I rinsed and applied the OS per the mfg's intructions.

Do I have to start over?

Just continue filtering it.

I believe, per Seachem's instructions, it also says that if you have cloudy water to use Clarify.:icon_roll

Clarify will help to clear up your water. In addition, I would use a micro-filter pad.

Rex's method might help a little (or a lot?), but you're still gonna get cloudy water either way...

Yea, I rinsed it pretty good. With sand it would seem the only way to clean it completely is to wash it down the sink!

I dropped my powerhead in last night with a home made filter and grabbed a lot of the particulate.

Thanks guys, will post photos soon.
